Hammurabi's Code
Hammurabi's code of laws was very simple. Whatever you did to someone was done to you. For example if you killed a man you would be killed. It is nicknamed as "An eye for eye, a tooth for a tooth". There were other laws and they were all resulting in simple things like death or just paying a fine of the value of whatever you stole. Punishment for laws today is a lot different with a court process and jail times varying from a couple days to life.

Hammurabis life
He was the 6th king in the Babylonian dynasty. In his 30th year of rule, he began to expand his kingdom. They took over Larsa, Eshunna, and Assyria and gained control all of Mesopotamia. Hammurabi used his Military and Political power to create irrigation systems and structures and temples celebrating the Babylon patron deity Marduk.
